Wedding Signs

It's a major wedding sign post!  Yay!

Our life was a bit crazy around the time of this wedding so I am just now getting around to editing photos and posting them.

I had the amazing privilege to create signs for a very special wedding! This family has become so dear to my heart over the years. I was her...teacher.  (cough) Yes, that makes me feel old. But it in my defense, it was only my second year of teaching.

Let me show you what we came up with! All of these were so much fun to work with. And of course, the styles of these signs could customized with different verses or sayings.

These are signs to hang on the back of their chairs at the reception.  They are hung with twine but I didn't attach it because I wanted them to hang them at the whatever height they needed. (that's why the twine isn't shown.
This is my favorite. It just fell together and worked perfectly. This sign was displayed at the wedding and now hangs in their sweet little home.
This small frame was displayed on the guestbook table. A great way to find all those fun pics that people shared on social media!
This frame was displayed on a table with a bouquet of flowers to honor those special family members who have passed.
The guestbook sign sat on a small photo stand on the guestbook table.

Instead of printing out programs, they wanted a 3 foot tall program. It was displayed on an easel.

Thanks, Meghan, for making my work a part of your special day!

Homemade Floor Cleaner

You know how much I like to make my own cleaners whenever I can.  I have been using this one from Clean Mama for a few weeks now and it totally passes the barefoot test.

Here's how I do it on floor washing day.
I fill up one side of my sink (or a bucket)  about half full with hot water.  To one side I add 1/2 cup borax. She suggests 1/4 cup borax to 1 gallon water. Stir it around and let it dissolve. Start washing away! Either stick your mop in the bucket or your rag and start scrubbing away. I rinse my rag out in the other side of the sink so I'm always washing with clean water.

Here are some more cleaning posts:

Cinnamon Blueberry Muffins

Hello there!  I am so excited about the new look my blog has!  My sweet friend Heather from Stringtown Home Designs did an amazing job. I couldn't love it more! Be sure you visit her blog, Stringtown Home, for some good old fashioned sweetness!
Thanks so much, Heather!

This morning I made these cinnamon blueberry muffins.  The cinnamon isn't too strong and gives the muffins a little extra goodness.  Here's the recipe for you to try!

Cinnamon Blueberry Muffins
1/2 cup butter
1 cup milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 heaping cup blueberries (frozen or fresh)

Melt butter in a small pan over medium low heat. Add milk and vanilla, stirring well. Let cool. Whisk in eggs. In large bowl, mix together dry ingredients. Add milk mixture and stir just until combined. Fold in berries. Spoon batter into muffin tin lined with paper muffin cups. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

This is a great base batter that you could change up. Maybe chocolate chips? Other fruit? Maybe just plain with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top. Yum.

Blessed Scripture Sign

Before we headed out on our D.C. adventure, I had the chance to create something special for a friend. She knew exactly what she wanted and when she saw it, it brought tears to her eyes. So sweet!

It measures 24" x 24" and has Jeremiah 17: 7-8 on the bottom.

Currently I am:

Listening to the kids play 'bead club' on the top bunk if their new bed.

Reading today's entry in Jesus Calling. It is about really being still and knowing that God is in control.

Drinking my first cup of coffee for the morning.

Praying that this week is better than last week as far as kids go.  We seem to be in a phase of constant bickering and just not getting along. I mostly pray for patience as I try to nurture their relationships with wash other.

Thanking God for the opportunity to be together as a family in a new place. So far it has been full of new things!

Here are a couple of pictures from this past week. Lots of these are from Instagram.

The kids think the apartment's washer and dryer are pretty fascinating.
We made (and ate) our first batch of cookies.
